We are the leading charity dedicated to wildlife conservation and environmental education in North East England. Our mission is to conserve local wildlife, promote nature conservation and provide the means by which everyone can become involved. Established as a registered charity in 1971, the Trust has strong local influence and authority as the only organisation uniquely concerned with wildlife in Northumberland, Newcastle and North Tyneside. We work regionally with our sister Trusts in Durham and Tees Valley, and we have national influence as a member of the Wildlife Trusts' partnership, a nation-wide network dedicated to the achievement of a UK richer in wildlife. As a partnership we have over 800,000 members and care for over 2,400 nature reserves. As an individual Trust, we have over 13,000 members and care for over 60 nature reserves across the county, both rural and urban. The Trust employs around 65 skilled staff, and involves hundreds of volunteers in our work.
