NATS and Thales UK have formed a consortium, with Frequentis and Jotron as Strategic Sub-Contractors, under the name AQUILA Air Traffic Management Services to bid for the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) MARSHALL programme. On the 29 October 2014, AQUILA signed a contract to deliver Marshall, the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) programme to transform terminal air traffic management at military airfields. The four companies bring proven expertise to satisfy the requirements of the MARSHALL programme, which will deliver enhanced capability and significant through-life cost savings in military air traffic management (ATM). The programme, made up of ATM systems and services, will be delivered at all of the MoD-operated airfields and flying ranges in the UK and overseas and will also provide an out of area ATM capability in support of expeditionary air operations. AQUILA has been formed to address the UK MARSHALL programme. The programme extends over 22 years and is valued at around £1.5bn.
