A Spirited Community Both a faith community and a learning community, Bethel also creates community between spiritual and academic growth. Faithful seeking informs discussion in classes, and a scholarly perspective illuminates spiritual questions. As a learning community, we welcome students from many backgrounds; as a Christ-centered community, we are open to challenging our minds and enlarging our vision. Faculty, students, staff — we are each other's friends and mentors; we are a community, growing in Christ and learning. Real World, Real Service The Bethel faculty brings real-world experience plus a commitment to teaching into the classroom, to help students discover their unique vocations, the paths they will pursue in the world and their individual talents. Through a carefully selected curriculum, genuine learning, intentional living and faithful service, the Bethel community recognizes both the needs of the world and the part Bethel graduates will play in it. By examples of service leadership and through opportunities to help our neighbors, the Bethel community learns together how to become the hands and feet of Christ — active in class, on campus, in the world and in their careers. Engaged in Mind and Heart Bethel is a college where students and professors explore intellectual and spiritual challenges, seeking to add to the body of shared knowledge and to ready their minds and hearts for tomorrow's questions. Bethel relies on the traditional scholarly disciplines — mathematics, language, science, arts, philosophy — to gain the mental skills and ingenuity needed to continue learning throughout lives lived at the balance point of mind and spirit, body and soul.
