Over the last generation, survival rates for chest, heart and stroke conditions have dramatically improved. Today 1 in 11 people are living with a life changing condition. These conditions can affect every aspect of a person's life, from getting dressed in the morning to socialising with friends, or getting back to work. Without support, survivors can be left feeling anxious and frustrated about what lies ahead – this can lead to social isolation, anxiety and depression. As a charity we don't just want people to survive, we want them to rebuild their lives and really live. Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) helps to improve the quality of life for people of all ages whose lives have been changed by these debilitating illnesses. We provide much needed support and give them the best chance of living an independent life. We do this through offering vital help, advice and information about their conditions, a range of group and 1-to-1 support in the community and by influencing public policy. We have to raise over £8 million each year to enable us to continue to run our vital services and be there for those who need us most. You can support us through: - fundraising at home or at work (every £20 you raise will fund one more hour of nursing care) - volunteering through our services or at events - promoting our campaigns or events on social media For more information about how you can get involved and change lives for the better please visit our website: www.chss.org.uk
