ISIA Florence - Industrial & Communication Design University The Florence ISIA can thus be considered a model training school in Italy and, more generally, in Europe, as an institute of design that follows in the footsteps of the great historic institutions of teaching. (FranÃ§ois Burkhardt) ISIA is an institute for higher education at university level that aims to offer specialized training in the ambits of both industrial and of communication design. It is recognized on an international level as a highly prestigious school. It stands out from other institutes on the same level because of certain specific elements, for example, most of the teachers are professional people employed on a contract basis, thus ensuring high and professional teaching levels, while the number of students on each course is limited to 25, thus allowing a more direct and complete contact with teachers. The educational itinerary is structured in two levels, according with the European Union University program: a three years and a specializing two years course. ISIA teaching model, after a preparatory basic design teaching, provides students with a transdisciplinary studio including like History of art, Marketing, Multimedia design, Communication design, Semiotics, Car design, Communication techniques and strategies, Interior design, Packaging, Sociology, Packaging, Web design, Information Architecture, Semiotics, Marketing, Mass communication. The scientific knowledge generated by the above will give student the skills necessary to develop their projects. Several independent professionals are at present employed in the program of studies as Andries Van Onck, Paolo Deganello, Franco Raggi, Gilberto Corretti, Biagio Cisotti, Mario Lovergine, Antonio Glessi, Giuseppe Lotti, Giuseppe Furlanis, FranÃ§ois Burkhardt, Enzo Mari, Vico Magistretti, Alberto Meda, Jonathan De Pas, Isao Hosoe, Alessandro Mendini, have been visiting professors at ISIA, in the past.
