We are committed to improving mathematics education & we believe that strengthening the relationships between mathematics & education can provide huge benefits for everyone. Our roots lie in developing a curriculum that not only provides opportunities for academic excellence, but also equips students to use mathematics in the workplace, helping employers to recruit people who are better prepared for working life & get better results. There are 2 key parts to our work: - Enhancing teaching & learning in schools, colleges and univerisities We want students to understand the relevance of the maths they are learning & we work closely with industry to bring examples of real-world uses of mathematics into education. We provide a range of professional development opportunities for teachers, including our annual conference, & innovative resources that extend that enrich knowledge of mathematics. We also manage the government-funded Further Mathematics Support Programme. - Enhancing the mathematical skills of employees We believe that there is massive scope to develop the mathematical skills of current employees and to encourage them to be used and offer consultancy services to support this. This can help to increase efficiency, reduce reliance on key staf ad avoid costly mistakes. It can also raise individuals' self-esteem and remove barriers to development opportunities. Together these changes can lead to improvements in business performance.
