Nuclear power can play a key role in achieving the challenge of maintaining affordable and secure low carbon energy for the UK, while tackling the global threat of climate change. This is why we're developing two new nuclear power stations: Wylfa Newydd on Anglesey and at Oldbury-on-Severn in South Gloucestershire. Combined, both stations will provide at least 5,400MW of new low-carbon power station capacity in the UK, enough to power 10 million homes. The new power stations will create up to 850 permanent jobs at each site during operation, with many thousands of opportunities created during construction and across the supply chain we'll need to have in place to build and operate both sites. The investment we'll make in both nuclear power stations will not only provide low carbon energy for generations to come, but boost the whole energy sector, creating jobs, developing local skills and providing new opportunities for British industry.
