HWS specialises in improving equality, diversity and inclusion in the health and social care sector. We design, develop and deliver activities to benefit the health, social care and wellbeing of marginalised individuals and minority communities, their carers and families. HWS are the bridge between individuals and health and social care professionals and help to improve understanding of the services available to them and their access. Training and Knowledge HWS designs, develops and delivers training or source appropriate training to meet local sector specific and or community needs. We aim to support people with diverse backgrounds to gain knowledge, develop high quality caring skills and to take on community and professional roles. We are an approved centre of the Royal Society of Public Health and deliver a range of courses. Diverse and Wellbeing HWS works with the community and health and social care stakeholders to identify gaps in the market to develop respectful, sensitive, linguistic and culturally appropriate services. In particular, develop or improve advice, guidance, information, support and services to better meet the needs of diverse individuals or groups. We create volunteering and workplace opportunities to help people to gain practical experience and increase their confidence in work settings. HWS has an Advocacy and Befriending service and a Wellbeing group. We also give and facilitate health and healthy lifestyle talks. Language and Interpretation HWS will progress this service by developing the skills of a pool of people with community language. We will support them to acquire qualifications to deliver high quality interpretation, translation and dual language interaction services. Other areas of expertise include: Research and Consultation & Events and Information
