The Valuation Office Agency (VOA) provides the government with valuations and expert property advice needed to support taxation and benefits. Our main clients are local authorities, the Department for Communities and Local Government, the Department for Work and Pensions and the devolved administrations in Scotland and Wales. We also provide a range of valuation and surveying services to public sector bodies. Our customers are the taxpayers. We maintain 22 million assessments for council tax, and a further 1.9 million for business rates. We employ over 3,600 people in locations across England, Wales and Scotland, and are the single largest employer of chartered surveyors in the UK. Our network support offices in Durham, Rhyl, Halifax and Plymouth provide first line advice and support to our customers. We employ people from more than 15 recognised government professions to support our operations. This includes: digital experts; analysts and statisticians; human resources advisors and communications experts.
